A great activity for children is to go crab fishing at Kalvøya. Norwegian children just love it!
You attach an open mussel to a string, and start fishing. You'll find the mussels all around the cliffs a little bit under the water.
You can collect the crabs in a bucket and throw them out in the sea afterwards. There is no harm done to the crabs and the children will have a lot of fun.

When you are in Sandvika, you'll see the beautiful island of Kalvøya. In summer it hosts numerous festivals, and there is a lot of atmosphere.
It's just a short walk across the bridge to get there.
