The Alta Museum have excellent exhibition of the early years on the settlements in the north, from stone age to the modern times. Additional to this there is also unique rock art exhibition as well.

You can "drive" your own dog team into the winterland.
They arrange short or longer trips.
And this is a fantastic way to explore the nature.
I was also amazed that the dogs was soooo nice and sweet....

Short or longer trips.
We took a 60 km long trip, and we had so much fun!

There were few places we saw around here but our choice this time was for the basic hamburger place, a local restaurant that judging by the queue here, it seems like the only place that tourist can afford to eat out here ;-)

During spring of 2004, Subway opened its northernmost franchise in Alta, Norway. It's your standard Subway, just as you know it from, well, anywhere else. They even know what a BLT is (I taught them) even though it's not on the menu. (It has, however, appeared on the website.)
Open 7 days/wk 10am-9pm

Favorite thing: The people here is very friendly. A lot of them are "lapp/same" people. And they try to keep old traditions.
The nature is also amazing!
Fondest memory: The snow scooter safari was unforgetteble!
