Fresh fish in midnight sun
On my second journey to Finnmark I was old enough for my parents to let me hang out with friends through the night. After all, it was daylight all the time, and everybody knew each other in Øksfjord, where we were staying. One beautiful night some of us went fishing, bringing cooking utensils. We caught pollock with rods from shore, cleaned it and cooked it in seawater on a fire, while watching the coastal express passing by in the midnight sun. Fish has never tasted better! My second picture shows the typical Finnmark shore. The Finnmark coast is bare with no real trees, the treeline beeing 150 km south of North Cape. The main picture shows one of the old coastal express ships passing by in midnight sun, the new ships are bigger and more modern.
