.. Travelling anywhere up here in Northern Norway or LLapland ALWAYS in the summertime carry and use a strong mosquito and insect repellant...The mosquitos up here are the biggest that you will ever see!!! They are not only a real pest but mosquitos carry many forms of viruses.. In the evenings (the worst time) when "mossie's "are most active cover up with long sleeves and long pants .Make sure that all exposed bare skin is covered with a good strong mosquito repellant to be on the safe side..
Along the road toward Hammerfest is very common to see wild reindeers to cross the road. It is a great opportunity to have a photo, but pay attention with the cars because they cross the road suddently!!!
This is the land of the reindeers, they are everywhere, so, beware of the reindeers while driving on the roads, in the fog it is very difficult to spot them and you dont really want to do the car cleaning afterwards.
Those are examples of the snow barriers spread around the mountain above the city, just in case of a snow avalanche, I wonder about the history of avalanches in Hammerfest.
The temparature could simply decrease as low as -35C cum strong wind, be sure to wear double winter set of winter wear from head to tows.
