by FletteMette Bergen Airport Flesland is located around 17 km southwest of the city centre. There are ATMs and a bank at the airport - the bank is open 08.00-15.30 Mon-Fri, Sat and Sun closed. Taxi fares to the city centre: between 250 - 350 NOK depending on the weekday (more expensive during weekends) and time of day. Most taxi drivers speak English, and you can pay by credit card or in Norwegian Kroner. (Norway is not part of the European Union, hence no Euro;o) Flybussen, the airport bus, leaves the airport "as soon as possible" after most arriving planes. Takes around 30 - 40 mins to the centre of Bergen - in the city centre the bus stops at the Bus Station (the Express Bus terminal - which is right next to the train station), and then at Radisson SAS Hotel Norge in the very centre of town, and at Radisson SAS Royal Hotel, Bryggen. Ticket prices (to/from the city centre): Adults: 80 NOK Children: 40 NOK. Tickets are purchased from the driver. Airlines: www.sasbraathens.no SAS Braathens, aka Scandinavian, flies within Scandinavia and to several other destinations world wide. www.norwegian.no Within Norway, and to ca 40 European destinations, most routes are from Oslo but there are direct flights from Bergen to London, Manchester, Berlin, Prague and Paris, to mention a few. Usually quite a bit cheaper than SAS. If you're on a budget and your flight dates are flexible, check out Norwegian's *excellent* lowfare calendar - it tells you the cheapest flights available on each day of your chosen month. www.wideroe.no Widerøe has smaller planes, flying to 35 destinations in Norway - mostly small towns. A few destinations in Northern Europe. Leave a Comment

norway from the air by daarth Flesland is the name of the airport in Bergen. It lies about 20 km Southwest of the centre. Good connections by airport bus or taxi. It's a small airport, but the best one I have been at. All the facilities are easily discovered and within throwing distance :-) There are many connections to Oslo each day, and the main connections abroad are to Copenhagen and Amsterdam. ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ Here is a good airport story, though it is probably made up: I was visiting the bathroom at the airport, when the person in the booth next to me started unexpectedly talking. He said, ?Hi how are you?? I usually would never do this, but for some weird reason I answered, ?fine thank you! And how are you?. I could have bitten my tough off the second I answered? Then came: ?What are you doing right now?? That?s it, I thought. Keep your mouth shut. But I answered: ?I?m out travelling just like you I guess?? I better get out of here real fast I thought, when I heard this: ?Can I come over to you?? I quickly answered, ?Better not, I?m rather preoccupied at the moment?. Then I heard the following: ?Sorry I better ring you up later, there is a weirdo in the booth next door answering all my questions? Leave a Comment

I flew from Bergen to London (Stansted) flying Norwegian Airlines. Their prices were reasonable and the seats were comfortable enough (it was only about a 1hr flight - I fell asleep). If you intend to eat or drink on the flight make sure you have some Krone or GBP (notes, they don't accept coins). They also gave out free chocolates (mints). The website below is in Norsk and English. Leave a Comment

by Gili_S The best and the fastest way to get to Bergen is by airplane. The airport is not very big located about 20 km from the city. There are not too many international connections and often you will require changing planes in Oslo or Copenhagen. Leave a Comment

by Ken_Weaver Bergen Airport, Flesand, is located 12 miles(20 km) south of the City Center...about 25 minutes away by bus or cab. Rate for the cab to the city center is about NOK 250-300(USD $36-43). Most drivers speak English. The rate for bus service is NOK 60(USD $8.50) Food and Beverage are very expensive at the airport so wait until you get into the city....a half pint of beer is about EURO 10 or USD 9! The airport of Bergen is called Flesland and is located 19 km south of the city center. There are buses between the city center and the airport and the ticket costs NOK 45. From the airport there are good connections to other Norwegian cities as well as to cities like Stockholm, Copenhagen, London and Helsinki. Most international flights are operated by SAS and some other flights by Braathens and Wideröe. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

The train stops almost in the center of the town. If you're arriving by plane, take the airport shuttle bus to the center. Bergen is a compaced city. You'll get around to most of the sights just by walking around. This way you'll be able to see everything on your path.If you for some reason don't want to walk you could always take the bus. People are generally helpfull if you ask them which bus to take and from where. You can also ask at the touist office (near the fishmarket). Parking isn't easy in this town, so unless you're traveling further you'd be better of without a car. If you absolutely must have a car yolu can park at 'Bygarasjen' beside the train station, but beware of the prices. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane
