Favorite thing: This is the central square and pedestrian street in the city centre. It seems that everything starts from here with crowded people, shopping, eating or just hanging around. Not sure how lovely it will be on a rainy day.
Favorite thing:
This is the most common place for a rendezvous. People arranging to meet in town usually agree to meet at "the blue stone" (den blå sten). Nobody knows what this monument is, but everybody knows where it is :-)
The location is below the theatre on the plaza "Togalmeningen"
Favorite thing: In March you can expect any kind of weather. It can still snow and you can also get spring-like weather. But don’t expect to see flowers and green leaves for another couple of months. It’s a perfect month to visit the ski resorts. Voss is only an hour away by train, and you can get special deals including train ticket and ski-pass for one day.
Favorite thing: The very first buildings in Bergen were alonside the harbour called Bryggen.Bryggen has been the nerve centre of the city.for centuries and the silhoutte of its ancients gables is perhaps the most familair image in all of Norway..
Favorite thing:
Bergen invests a lot in design of its streets and squares. This is a detail from the recently renovated Strandgaten. Between the regular stone paving there are these uniquely designed ceramic tiles done by one Danish artist.
Since this is one of the major shopping streets the pavements have built-in heating systems that prevents icing during the winter.
Favorite thing: Since it rains a lot, owners of the local shops are usually covering part of the pavement in order to allow you rain-free window-shopping. In some places, you’ll find “covers” like these over lengthy portions of streets in the city centre. This photo was taken on recently renovated Torgallmenningen that features this colonnade of uniquely shaped stone columns supporting the glass “roof”.
Favorite thing:
This relief and statues conmemorates the people going to the sea during the centuries. The sculptures show you all the different people.
I guess its nice to take a little rest on in the summer.
Favorite thing: At the backside. They are restoring this old part of Bergen. The small streets feel very claustrofobic.
Favorite thing: If you get the chance then go for a wander around Vagsallmenningen Square... There are some gorgeous buildings there...
Favorite thing: This shows some of the city...and the lush green that surrounds it... Bergen is a very pretty town...
