Experience the wilderness in walking distance from the center of Voss! The deep and dramatic Bordalsgjelet (gorge) is accessible to the public with information boards, viewpoints and benches. When there is snow and ice it can be very slippery and dangerous. Here you get a good view of the great "jettegrytene" (pot-holes), and waterfalls. But remember, for your own safety: keep to the paths!
You reach Bordalsgjelet with an easy walk or by bicycle from Vossevangen through idyllic Prestegardsmoen over the river Vosso and continue on the road Gjernesvegen to the dramatic Bordalsgjelet.
Time: approx. 2 hours to and from, 5 km.

Stone church from 1277.
The Church has no traditional baptismal font but an angel bought in Copenhagen around 1820. It is a life-size white painted wooden figure that holds the baptismal bowl in his hands. It hangs from the roof and is lowered when there is baptism in the church.

Take the rope way "Dinglo and Danglo" up to Hanguren, with beautiful views of Voss. From here you can walk back down to Vangen (centre of Voss) via Raugstad.
Opposite direction: From Vossevangen drive, take the Buss "Sivlevegen" or walk up Sivlevegen and Raugstadvegen to the end. Continue on the gravel road to the right up trough the farm Raugstad. Walk up and take the left turn by the information board with map. Do not walk to the right here. At the next krossroad walk to th right, and at the next you can choose, walk the steep road to the right or still continue on the main gravel road. Both will coninue on trails to Hanguren.
Nice forrest and beautiful views of Voss.

Voss is an eldorado of extreme sports. They even have an own week dedicated to different extreme sports - "Ekstremsportsveko" which takes place 25.June - 2.July.
If you're into sports like rafting, rappelling, canyoing, fishing, hiking, riverboarding etc., I reccomend you to get in contact with Voss Rafting Centre. (check out my rafting and rappelling tips too!)
Voss Rafting Centre also have a wilderness camp, and a SPA.

The oldest secular wooden building in Norway, Finnesloftet was built in the 13th century. It is a wooden hall that can be seen among a range of much younger houses towering over the Voss lake Vangsvatnet. A lot of the techniques building this house were taken from the stavechurch building.
The house is open to visitors in july and on request also in other months.

Advertised as the high point of your holiday, and I'm sure it could be. In early May not too many signs of activity, although the plane was there. The tourist office suggested that it only flew with at least 4 passengers - but so cloudy when we visited - nothing to see?

The cycle ride around the lake is lovely. It is about 23k and you pass a ceramics shop, a glassware shop and a pottery. The views are super and the cycling is not too hilly!

We had fun playing mini golf on Midsummer. (Although they don't let you drink while playing - oops!)
The first few holes were quite fun, the last three are impossible!!!

A walk along the footpath from the town centre takes you to a pedestrian only suspension bridge over the Vosso. Predicably bouncy as you go over, great fun!
