Our tour took us through spectacular scenery, past delightful fjords , waterfalls, magnificent snow clad mountains, and over Trollstigen with its narrow steep zig zag roads from Stigrora to Isterdalen. I am not sure where we started but it was downhill and we did not go back up!The three main peaks of Trollstigen are named The King, The Queen and...

  • Great value food

May not be as famous as sjoebua or some others in the centre of town, and the name's bit strange. But this is a little gem hidden away in kirkegata. Atmosphere is relaxed (only one waitress), and the food is well-executed. Only Kr255 for three course meal, this place can't be beaten for value! Locally sourced fish -very good indeed.

The night of January 23rd 1904 was the night of the big fire... which in 16 hours burned down 850 houses and left 10.000 people homeless. In the centre there were only 230 homes left. The whole town needed to be rebuilt and by 1907 this deed was accomplished - in Art Nouveau style.Art Nouveau, generally speaking, means that the new homes were...

  • Aksla rises up from the park...

Aksla rises up from the park in the middle of downtown. While it is possible to take a taxi to the top, you can also take the stairs. It's only 425 steps, and the view feels so much more rewarding if you walk, than if you take a cab. And it feels so much better to say 'I climbed Aksla' than 'I took a cab'. Put that on your T-shirt.
