Geiranger Shopping

The shops selling souvenirs in Geiranger are situated near the port and along the main street. The prices are exorbitant, especially for anything handmade, like the sweaters in traditional Norwegian patterns or painted woodwork. There are some interesting items, however, like tin cutlery with lovely Celtic ornaments, table mats representing Viking gods and lots of lovely mugs. You can always buy a troll as a present but I don't think they would be to everyone's taste. The shops further from the port have slightly lower prices.

What to buy: Celtic jewelry, tin objects, furry animals like seals or reindeer, nicely designed key rings, interesting kinds of rock, for example in the form of pendants, table mats, and in one of the shops, witches that are supposed to bring good luck or so the shop owner says. You can't miss them, the witch stand (in the photo) is situated in the main street.

What to pay: Small table mats cost around NOK 100 for a set of six, mugs - from NOK 25, the prices of Norwegian patterned sweaters start at around NOK 1200, T-shirts at NOK 100.
