The Ships excursion to Dalsnibba was very expensive, so I looked for an alternative way to come here.
I found the Public bus which happens to run 3 times per day from Geiranger to Dalsnibba in the period between 21st June to 31st August.

The route is part of the public bus route Andalsnes-Trollstigen-Valldal-Eidsdal-Geiranger-Dalsnibba-Langvatn (Grotli) and vice versa with connection to Oslo by train and bus.
The round trip Geiranger-Dalsnibba takes about 2 hours and the cost was half of the price of the ships tour, the only extra with the ships tour, was coffee and cake.

THE BUS RUNS .....Monday - Sunday
Departing from Geiranger @ 9:40am...12:30pm and 2.40 pm

PRICE FOR ADULTS WAS 250NK return trip.

The Bus Stop is on the roadside, to the left of the Troll.

The Bus stops at Flydalsjuvet, then for 20 mins at Dalsnibba and then at the Lake on the return trip down the mountain.

If you want to get to Geiranger you have to go by boat on the fjord, or by car or bus down one of two steep mountain roads with endlessly many hairpin bends.

One of the roads, Ørneveien or Mini-Trollstigen, goes over the mountain from Geiranger to Eidsdal. Here you have to take a ferry to Linge if you want to continue north to Trollstigen or west to many other cities.

The other road goes from Geiranger, up passed the famous Flydalsjuvet and up to Djupvatnet which lies 1030 meters above the sea. From here you can continue up Nibbeveien to Dalsnibba mountain plateau with excellent views.

The ferry goes from Hellesylt, and in peak season also from Linge. In addition there are cruise ships that comes almost daily in the high season.

One of the nice way to reach Geiranger is by car. It is very easy to reach it from Stryn following the Rv 15 and then the Rv 63. From Alesund you, instead, you must take a ferry from Linge to Eidsdal. The journey is about 10 minutes throght the Norddalsfjorden. From Eidsdal after about 20 Km you reach Geiranger.

getting from Geiranger harbour to one of the small cabins lying in the fjords is quite expensive around 500 NK each trip. You should get as much as possible into that boat. When you're arriving on ground you'll have to walk and that it's quite heavy. Don't put any more stuff into you bag than neccessary
