Sundbåten is the oldest public transportation which is still in use. The first time was in 1876.

The ferries takes you between the islands in Kristiansund: Kirkelandet - Innlandet – Nordlandet – Gomalandet.

Sundbåten is a great way of seeing the city!

The city council of Kristiansund decided in 1875 to build a church on the island Nordlandet, which is part of the city.

First they wanted to take the old church from the main square, and move it to Nordlandet. The old church had not been used for many years. But in the end it got to expencive to move it, so they tore the church down.

In Nordlandet they built a new one, which is the one standing here today.

Kirkelandet church is from 1964, and stands on the island of Kirkelandet in Kristiansund.

The church was designed by architect Odd Østbye. The artist Gunnar S. Gundersen designed the crusifics and the wall.

This church is different from other traditional churches. The idea was that it should shine like a crystal, in between the surrounding roses.

Drive and enjoy the coastal view between Kristiansun and Molde or vice versa. You will encounter cute fishing villages, small roads with beautiful flowers on both sides and nice long bridges. You can stop for a cup of coffee whenever you want. Norwegian coffee is good. I like it very much.

Another way of getting to and from Kristiansund is with ferry.

The ferry goes from the harbour in Kristiansund to Bremsnes, which is located on the island of Averøya.

The ferry is line number 41. The crossing takes about 20 minutes, and it departs many times a day.

In 1992 opened the "KRIFAST" project. This meant that you could go driving to and from Kristiansund without having to take a ferry.

The Freifjordtunnel takes you under Kvernesfjorden and is 5102 meters. The tunnel takes you from the island Bergsøya to the island Frei. From Frei bridges takes you all the way in to the city center of Kristiansund.

From Bergsøya there is a bridge to Gjemnes which takes you in the direction of Molde. This is a hanging bridge.

If you want to go the other way there is another bridge on Bergsøya which takes you to Aspøya, and from there on to Tingvoll and Sunndalsøra. This is a floating bridge.
