Keep your eyes open for any wildlife. I have seen my first eagle here on my hike. Pretty impressive.
You should stop at the parking just before the tunnel to Utakleiv to have a look at the beautiful white beach. Walk around and you will find nice objects and perspectives for photos!
Here and all around the Lofoten you will find wildlife and sheeps freely roaming the area. Therefore it is adviceable to keep your dog (if you keep one) on a leash. In some areas it is also not allowed to let the dog run around freely.
This hike is a quite easy hike except a short ascend over a saddle. Its beauty come from the landscape and unspoiled nature. Unlike the nature at Ballstad for example (See the hike there), here at the northern side the landscape is much rougher. Maybe you are lucky like me and you will see an eagle flying over your head.
Places on the hike to be mentioned: The beach at Haukland, the island 'Taa' with its special form and the saddle with its totally different landscape.
The best is to park your car at the parking in Utakleiv. From there you just start off along the gravel drive way (closed for vehicles!). Reaching the beach at Haukland cross the street and follow the small driveway uphill. Just before the lake (you can't miss it) turn left to get up the hill. It might be that you will have to go straight up. Don't worry if it looks like there is no path anymore, when almost up the hill, you will find it again. Now follow the path over the saddle and descend down to Utakleiv. You will reach the road from the right side. Follow it the way you drove to the parking.
Alternative: In case you want to avoid the saddle (try it at least, it is beautiful up there), you can also walk through the tunnel, but take much care! It is narrow and quite dark. I don't want you to get overdriven by a car.
Equipment: Hiking shoes. If they are water resistent it might be useful if it has rained the days before.
