The mountain Torghatten looking like a hat with a hole through it, is a popular place to visit. The hole is 160m long, 35m high and 15m wide and is made by the sea's erosion through thousands of years. Click the photo to see the hole piercing through the hillside. (Postcard - airphoto)

Nice selection of shops in the town centre with all you need from groceries to electronics and clothes. There is also a pharmacy and stately monopoly store for alcohol

If you visit Mo i Rana you can go to the tourist information and get a "Tourists Free Parking Card" to be placed inside the windscreen of the car. Permitted parking time 4 hours max. Rather get a free ticket than a PAY ticket (fine).

Fondest memory: The Ocean

Fondest memory: What I remember as the most curious thing from my visits to Mo i Rana, is that everything was coloured red there. The houses, the once white stone-walls of the church, even the snow in winter were discoloured from the big iron factory which was still active then. The iron production used to be the main life-nerve in the town.
