The famous hymnwriter and priest Elias Blix
was born here the 24th February 1836,
and a statue is raised for him next to his home.
The house where he was born and raised is today privately owned - but the public statue is a nice memorial - so is the magnificent landscape which inspired his works so much.
Nordstranda kapell - the chapel of Sandhornøya. It was built in 1963, located near the beach, with the "Sandhornet" mountain throning proudly in the background.
The little community of Våg - Sandhornøy as seen from the hillside above while I was walking in the mountains.
Elise shows us the old way of conserving
potatoes through the long and cold winter - the earth cellar - "jordkjeller"
This is what the cellar looks like
after you've got a water-leak in the kitchen
All the ice taps makes it look like a cave
Hubby and kids at our summer house - must be off the beaten path.
Our little idyllic away-from-it-all in the countryside. Come and see us if you're in the area!
Favorite thing: Early sunset while the days are still short in winter - got this view while I was walking in the mountain side.
