Ferries on Kystriksveien
Kystriksveien cannot be negotiated by car only. At places the road is substituted by ferry crossings, which cannot be avoided. Not that we wanted to avoid them, treating them as an additional attraction and a welcome rest for my husband, our only driver. Every ferry crossing was an adventure in itself. Exploring the ferry, finding the best vantage points from which the area could be observed, getting a (soft) drink from the bar and, above all, looking and looking... The scenery was great: the mountains emerging from the sea, the little and bigger islands, the wilderness with hardly any signs of human activity. Norway was again showing us its best points. There were very few passengers on board, which made the crossing even more relaxing.
