Fredrikstad Local Customs

Since all the bars and pubs in Fredrikstad was closed on Sunday evening I had to settle with the local beer from the minibar at my hotel room.

To my surprise "Fredrikstad Pilsner" was actually good, although not the best beer I had ever had.
According to the bottle the beer has great traditions back to 1567, when the local people started to produce it. This apparently was military times, and a very hard period for the norwegian people as one general person in Fredrikstad by that time drank 8 litres of beer - every day...

And I thought that Swedes drank a lot...?

The beer was nice, more dark than bright. Cost me 35 NKR (4,50 euro) for a 33 cl-bottle. Probably not worth it, but what should one do when I had been waiting for a beer all evening long when I was working...? :)

Funny thing was the sign on the bottle, which was a collection sign, with motivs from the old village of Fredrikstad. I got a canon gun, which apparently was number four in the series.
