Oslo Region Nightlife

  • Blaa -

    Oslo Nightlife

Blaa is such a fun place to visit. It is a hippie, artisty kind of place, as it were, and here is live music, which is how I found this place in the first place... I just followed the music without knowing that there was anything down there by Akerselva river. Was I wrong! It is just my kind of place. On Sundays there is a market in Ingens gate -...

  • Onkel Donald

    Oslo Nightlife

All roads lead to UTSIDE - The best place to begin, middle or end an evening during the summer in OSLO. OK I am a bit bias because my host Stian was a bartender there and we never wait in line, but it really is a great place to go. For starters, it seems like it is always the right mix of people (aka variety). Some folks are dressed up headed to or...

    Oslo Nightlife

Well, in practical, during the summer you cannot really call it nightlife as it was sunshine when I went into a club (around 11 PM) and was sunshine again when went out. (around 2 AM) Places were great for dancing, rock music and went even to one nice jazz club. I cannot remember names, places had sometimes funny names as Rorbua :-)

  • T.G.I. Friday's

    Oslo Nightlife

A little hesitant to enter into this establshment(being from America and wanting to experience unique places). However, this place was consistently packed and was an easy place to grab a drink and chat up the locals. Again, super friendly staff (common throughout Norway) and a cool crowd. Certain nights better than others but always a buzz. Went...

  • Panorama Bar - Radisson SAS Plaza

    Oslo Nightlife

This is the bar at the top floor, 34 or so at the Radisson SAS Plaza Hotel in the city centre. You can take the elevator straight to the top (when its working). The service was very nice and the view is just great.

  • Smuget

    Oslo Nightlife

This was one of the coolest places I went out while I was in Oslo! It features quite a schedule of live bands and even has a way for people to try out to have a free for all night. They also have a restaurant and a dance room for more hip-hop, trance folks. There is about a 100NK cover and the drinks can get expensive quick. But I saw the band...

  • Harry's Bar

    Oslo Nightlife

This place is located right next to Friday’s in Karl Johansgate, and it’s very similar to it’s neighbour. It’s a very popular place, and there are always lots of people here. The music is the normal commercial songs that are popular at the time, but it’s ok. They also have a restaurant in the basement, and it’s nice to take some drinks here after...

  • Bar Boca

    Oslo Nightlife

This is a very small and charming bar. It's decorated in a nice 50's retrostyle and has a few tables where you can sit down. It is very popular on weekdays too and it can be quite crowded sometimes. You better not be too claustrophobic... ;) The cocktails here are excellent and you should check out the very large selection that they have. The...

  • Cafe con Bar

    Oslo Nightlife

This is one of those great little places in Oslo that is always fun to go to. It is open late and the food is not that bad either. Try a "Filbeck" (I am unsure how to spell it). It is a combination drink of aquivit, vodka and sprite. It is pretty good though. No dress code-come as you are.

  • Rockefeller Music Hall

    Oslo Nightlife

Most of the good, yet not overly large concerts occur here (national and international acts). There are three venues: John Dee in the basement, Rockefeller above, and Sentrum Scene across the street. If you are coming to Oslo and want to see a concert, I'd check out their webpage to see what's on. Casual

  • Herr Nilsen

    Oslo Nightlife

I'm an Engineer, age 56, working in Oslo now for a 6 month assignment. I was excited to find this place since it looked like there were some fantastic jazz shows here. Then I had the unfortunate experience of meeting the owner, sitting with three other gentlemen, who seemed very amused at my questions about the beer menu. He made sure that he was...

  • Chairs & The London Pub

    Oslo Nightlife

Certainly unimpressive on the exterior, and rather confusing about its names, this is nonetheless one of the best gay places in Central Oslo. I've always had a good time when I come here; often I end up staying until the bar closes at 3 a.m. Downstairs is a warren of dimly lit but comfortable rooms for meeting or crusing; upstairs is a rather...

  • Paragrafen

    Oslo Nightlife

Paragrafen (the Paragraph) and Justisen (the Justice) share a courtyard and a rambling historic building not far from where everything happens in Oslo. I love this cozy place - it's youthful (but not exclusively so), casual, somewhat alternative, loud and convivial and full of happy people. I think all the floors here are uneven, the stairs slant,...

  • Beer Palace

    Oslo Nightlife

A good, cosy pub with a lot of different beers on the meny. Just a few on draught though so if you are a "draught-fan" you try something else. Friendly people, knowledgable staff and good location. In short a good night out! Casual

  • Cafe Sør

    Oslo Nightlife

This popular place is a cafe a day-time serving coffees, tea and soft drinks, and a selection of cakes and cookies and a buzzing bar/club at night with fantastic drinks (made with fresh fruits and ingredients) and music played by different DJs. The music is usually disco/80s pop-tunes/soul/funk. It's a very international atmosphere with guests of...

  • Mikrobryggeriet

    Oslo Nightlife

If you like fresh craft beers, Oslo Mikro Bryggeri in the West End is the place to go. This is a busy, crowded place - not the atmosphere for a quiet conversation with old friends, but it is a place to make new friends who share an interest in good beer. I thought the porter was quite good - four stars. The stout was also a good effort - three...

  • Cafe Sara

    Oslo Nightlife

Café Sara has very cheap food, and I have described more about it on the restauranttips. It's very nice to start the evening with a cheap dinner and some drinks here. Or you can eat something on your way home from the city, because they also serve food late. Some years ago it was mostly broke artists or young students who were interested in the...

  • Apotheket Cafe

    Oslo Nightlife

Another masterpiece of the art of naming places. It means 'The Drugstore'. The place is very cosy, the food is excellent, there is always a flower on each table, special concerts take place there every now and then. It's fun to stay at the balcony too. The waiters are very nice and back in 98 almost all of them spoke fluent portuguese, english and...

  • Tørst -

    Oslo Nightlife

This is a very nice pub. Its name means 'thirst', and it's just beside another place called 'Sult' ('hunger'). So, depending on what you want, it's all handy! ;) It's a very intelligent concept of pub I think. Starting by the name! The music can be annoying sometimes, but that's the least to pay attention to! Dress cute, they have transparent...

  • Waldemar Pub aka Waldemars

    Oslo Nightlife

Waldemars is a nice place to be. Well... very convenient of me to say such a thing - I live 5 minutes walk from the spot! It's a cozy place, with outdoor and indoor tables, nice service, not very expensive beer (NOK 42). Nice during the summer, nice during the autumn... I'll tell you about winter in two months. ;) Ahh - good place for first dates -...
