Popular bar and pub in Oslo. The building used to be for the King's horses (the castle is very close) and the interior still reminds you of this to a certain extent. This place has more than 120 beers to choose from.
Lorry is an institution in Oslo freqented by politicians, artists and a more mature clientele. I guess this place is best for 25 +
Dress Code: Come as you are, but you will also see some suits here as many people gather around the bar after work or to celebrate something.

This pub is popular among locals and has a great atmosphere. It's very relaxed situated in the Eastern part of Oslo. Asylet means "the asylum" and the building used to be a children's home.
I prefer going to other places if it's only about having a meal, but the beers are great. Do have in mind that you have to be 20 years old to get into this bar/pub. It's not children friendly.
Dress Code: No dress code at all. Come as you are.

This club (apparently café/restaurant at day time) is primarily a place that attract gay/homosexuals. The name 'Elsker' means 'lover' in English and the club has existed for 6 months. It is on the first floor in the party-district of the city of Oslo. The atmosphere is unbeatable. Lots of happy people, singing along to the music and dancing on the tables. If you're open-minded there's nothing wrong with going to Elsker if you want a good time:) And there's free entrance as well.
Dress Code: None that I'm aware of.

Aker Brygge is well-known for its exclusive and expensive restaurants and bars. But there is an alternative for those who want to explore the popular port of Aker Brygge and still have some money left when leaving. Barbera is a very popular, small cafe/bar in the back of Aker Brygge. It is sophisticated and trendy decorated with sitting groups and sofas, and tables if you want a meal (tapas etc). They also have tables outside with heating lamps for cold evenings. The main reason people come to Barbera is the cheap beer. Drinks are cheap on Mondays (but taste awful!!), some of the girls who work there have no idea how to make drinks. The unisex toilet creates some confusion. The crowd is young and beautiful, some are snobbish and trendy.
Dress Code: No specific dresscode, but avoid looking too casual.

This was suggested to me by a Norwegian girl who said it was good for 'the rocking & rolling'! so.... had to check it out. Well it certainly had loud rock music and lots of locals. Not sure about the rocking & rolling - a sign on the wall said 'No music Requests'!

Sikamikanico have existed for 9 years and is known for bringing in international and local DJs every weekend (techno/house/drum'n'bass). The club is very small and intimate, but also treasured among clubbers in Oslo. It is known for throwing out the furniture out on the street to make more space for clubbers. The atmosphere is great and people are very welcoming and friendly.
Dress Code: No dress code.. Relaxed. This is more underground than classy, so leave your high heels at home.

Although located a short distance from the city centre this is worth seeking out. Really popular with locals. Serves food coffee, beers etc. Prices are reasonable by Oslo standards.
Dress Code: Just about anything from what I could see!

Per På Hjornet is a comfortable small tavern featuring live music in the center of Oslo. Dark, intimate booths and a small stage where local blues, rock, and country rock performers entertain an appreciative audience. Some serious drinking is possible here, this isn't a place to stand and pose. I've been told that a number of Norwegian celebrities hang out here, though you may not be able to find them if they are hiding in one of their favorite booths. This used to be one of the smokiest bars in Europeø but now that Oslo has gone smoke-free in taverns, I like Per På a whole lot more.

On my second visit I hit some bars and a club. One bar was 'Bobs bar' which was advertised as having cheap beer which seemed like a good starting point seeing as all the other bars were so expensive.
However, it was dead, but luckily outside we got chatting to some locals and they took us to some other bars but i cant remember any names of them.
We ended up in a club called Smuget, which was good, open til 4am i think. was 100kr to get in and no real dress code as i wasnt dressed up.
