Paragrafen (the Paragraph) and Justisen (the Justice) share a courtyard and a rambling historic building not far from where everything happens in Oslo. I love this cozy place - it's youthful (but not exclusively so), casual, somewhat alternative, loud and convivial and full of happy people. I think all the floors here are uneven, the stairs slant, and the ceilings are short. There are a series of small, crowded rooms, and usually you have to elbow your way to the bar. In some ways, it's a classy dive bar, if you know what I mean. Occasional live bands.
Nest door neighboor to Justisen Restaurant, this is a place where you'll find the 'elite' of Oslo's underground rock bands hanging out. This means that you won't be able to hear Britney Spears however many times you ask the bartender, but a lot of up and coming Norwegian bands.
The owner of Paragrafen are moving, so sometime this spring (2001) the clientel might move to a new club Mono close by. I'll keep you posted.
