The big attraction at the Underwater Pub are the Tuesday and Thursday Opera Nights, when vocal students from the local conservatory, as well as professional singers from the Oslo region, perform arias and duets from their repetoire. You may very well catch a rising star here! There's a great ambience, as the visual theme of the bar involves water and candlelight, and students sing with great panache and commitment. It's also the friendliest bar I visited in Oslo. I've been coming to the Underwater Pub for several years now, and after a recent visit (in February 2006) I'm glad to be able to report that it remains as popular as ever. It's really delightful to see the engaging performers interact with the audience - and with startled bar-visitors who open the door of a neighborhood bar only to find themselves suddenly confronted by Carmen or Don Giovanni!
Tuesday night performances begin around 7.30 p.m., Thursday nights at around 9.30 p.m.

The Underwater Pub is very creative as both environment and entartainment. How? Well, the place is crowded with underwater motifs, nice and strangely placed around furniture, a cosy and dark atmosphere (as if one would b underwater, actually). And every thursday students of classic music come around to sing opera and play the piano/violin, what have you. A very nice experience! The place is very popular although not "fashion" - just the way I like it!

Like aquariums? Like beer? Like Opera? Yes? Then this is the place for you. Behind an amazingly heavy door (I think it is from an old submarine) you'll find a small underwater world. The top floor is decorated like an old ship with wooden planks and ropes, while the walls downstairs are filled with aquariums. Gives a cosy atmosphere.
Every Tuesday and Thursday it's opera night at Underwater. Students from a musical college in Oslo performs small sets fo well known opera classics. If you like opera, go there tuesdays and thurssdays, if you don't, you've got the rest of the week to explore seelife and beer.
