norwegian pullovers by tessy This pic was taken in the shop of the Holmenkollen museum. In the museumshops there are usually more or less similair things, almost no differences in price. Here in this shop you have a great selection of norwegian pullovers of the best quality. BTW: In the shops of the tourist information there are also rain capes available!!! We happened to be in Oslo when this market was on. Here you will find ecologic fruit, veggies, bread, jellies/marmalade, eggs, cheese, etc. Most of the stands had free testing of their products while some others sold food to go like waffles, elgburger (moose burger), fish burgers, venison and other dishes from Norwegian cuisine.
These markets are good for self caterers. What to buy is entirely up to you from their product selection.
Pay what they ask for. Theme: Food and DrinkDirections: The market was on Karl Johans gate when we were there but check out the link below for dates and addresses.Website: www.bondensmarked.no

words, words, words by yooperprof Books in Norway aren't exactly inexpensive - nothing really is here - but Oslo has an abundance of good bookstores, and almost all of them have sizable selections of English language books. Norli - near the University - has a selection of English language history and literature that would put to shame any shopping mall B Dalton's in the States. Everytime I've been to this store I've found something interesting and unexpected. Since you're in Norway, you should read something Norwegian, right? No worry if your Norwegian language skills are a little rusty - pick up a recent novel in translation from one of Norway's authors. I enjoyed Erik Fosnes Hansen's "Tales of Protection," and Erlend Loe's "Naive. Super." (They also have a full selection the works of Norway's Nobel Prize winner, Knut Hamsun. But I have to admit I've never been able to get past the first few pages of anything he wrote.) Leave a Comment Theme: BooksAddress: on Universitetsgata, just a block off Karl Johans

by martinelli You will soon find out that when the researchs point Oslo as one of the 3 more expensive cities in the world, they're not kidding. How to dodge that? Ignore all the snobs that might have given you tips about the town, go GRØNLAND! It's a multicultural part of town, some blocks behind the Central Station (Oslo S), the cheaper squaremeter in Oslo! That's where I buy my weekly supply of fruits and veggies (rice and oil can also be very cheap there). :)
Fruits, mushrooms, vegetables. Kosher ingredients. International calling cards (100 Kroner) I don't strongly recommend buying meat around there, some friends of mine say the control over the quality of the meat sold in that area is not very trustworthy... Check the neighbour streets though - many interesting cafes and a gadget shop called "Max 20" (everything costs up to 20 kroner).
Don't worry. You'll be amazed how much you can buy for how little. Leave a Comment Theme: Food and DrinkDirections: Take a bus, trikk or just walk to "Brugata", the veggie street at Grønland.

Dolce & Gabbana by Stylist The both sell designer clothing. And specially my favourite Dolce & Gabbana. Here you can find Roberto Cavalli, Cloè and some really good norwegian designers among others.
Hard-to -find-in-Norway-designerpieces. Try one on the pants by D&G
Very high prices. To buy this items in Norway you pay a lot more than in Italy for instance. Leave a Comment Theme: Women's ClothesAddress: BogstadveienWebsite: www.garbo.no

My best advice is to not shop in Oslo. It's too expensive. If you are looking for antiques, special edition books, original maps, etc., there are shops on Akersgata (one just across the street from the old fort and another across the street from the Parliament building). Theme: Antiques

Quite contrary to what people think, Norway is the cheapest country to buy electronics and computers in Europe. The reason is heavy competition. However, you need to buy what you want off the internet to benefit. Try e.g. www.komplett.no Also clothing is among the cheapest in Europe. I am not talking Gucci, but try comparing prices at H&M with other countries and you will get a surprise. Other than that, do your shopping elsewhere... Theme: Computers and Electronics
