Well, not so much souvenirs to choose from but we managed to find a moose with norwegian flag painted on it. The sales man was very nice he gave my son stickers for free (they cost 45 NOK), but on the other side the moose cost me 95 NOK.
So I wonder who gained on it??????

This is a part outdoor, part indoor used wares and antiques market held every Saturday. At the richer, western end of Oslo this flea market is a bit upmarket compared to the others in Oslo.
What to buy: such a huge variety...
Perhaps, if you are a newcomer to Oslo, a student or new resident this may be a good place to pick up things for the house.
What to pay: quite cheap, some items negotiable.

This shop had lots of high quality souvenirs.
I was toying with the idea of buying some Christmas baubles (about 9GBP) but decided to buy a few postcards, a Viking Recipe book (9GBP) -(it had some great recipes. as well as some Viking history), and a mug (5.50GBP).
This shop also had some 'magic ' mugs, where, when hot water was added to the mug - trolls or sunsets appeared !
My friends purchased gloves (with thermal linings), Disney story book of Norway (for ones young son), woolen hats (with thermal linings) in both black and grey wools and the multi coloured type with plaits!
Accumulating their purchases together, they were entitled to tax relief (please see previous tip for more info re tax free shopping!)
What to buy: Mugs
Post cards
Calendars
Recipe Books
Christmas decorations
Cheese Slicers
Woolen gloves, hats, jumpers
Trolls
What to pay: From a few NKR to as much as your bank manager will allow!

We first came across this shop on Saturday afternoon, I wanted some post cards, and my friends were looking for presents to take home.
We returned again on the Sunday to buy hats and gloves etc.
I bought a cheese slicer and a Viking recipe book. I was tempted to buy some of the glass Christmas baubles, but was afraid that I might break them on my way back home.
Norway is the only Scandinavian country in which visitors from the British Isles can claim VAT refunds.
In the shop, you claim a receipt for goods bought over 310NKR-
3 of my friends were purchasing goods, and the shopkeeper kindly added these together.
You then collect a 'cheque' for this amount..
At Torp airport, after going through passport control, you need to go to the cafe just past passport control on your right. At the till, you produce your cheque/receipt, and you are refunded the tax amount.
So get to the airport early if you want to get your tax refund!!
What to buy: Trolls
Norwegian jumpers
Norwegian hats
Viking hats - popular with stag parties, anyone under 10 years of age
Cheese slicers - invented here and a practical gift/ souvenir
Paper clips - invented here - useful, but your friends might not immediately appreciate as a gift!
Christmas decorations.
What to pay: From a few kroners for post cards to a lot of money!

We happened to be in Oslo when this market was on. Here you will find ecologic fruit, veggies, bread, jellies/marmalade, eggs, cheese, etc.
Most of the stands had free testing of their products while some others sold food to go like waffles, elgburger (moose burger), fish burgers, venison and other dishes from Norwegian cuisine.
What to buy: These markets are good for self caterers. What to buy is entirely up to you from their product selection.
What to pay: Pay what they ask for.

In the begining of January, most of the shops i Oslo has a big sale, where you can do a bargain. The prices can be up to 70% off.
But as everywhere else it's the demand that actually decides the prices. If the shops can't sell their winterequipment/clothes, because of lack of of snow, the prices can be quite low. If the winter in Oslo is heavy with a lot of snow there is a risk of higher prices at the Sale.
Places like Beitosdølen is very expensive and I will not recomend to do your shopping there.
Good shops in Oslo to do your winter-equipment-shopping.

Try as well www.kelkoo.no to find the best bargain.
But wait for the big sale in January
