Aker Brygge is former shipyard area in Oslo harbour, right next to the City Hall. In the last two decades a large development program was launched and today the area has been turned into a big centre with shops, restaurants, bars and pubs.
The docks are said to have the greatest number of outdoor seats in Norway, although the prices here tend to be higher than elsewhere and area is notorious as The place for rich people from all around Norway that come here for shopping and showing off.
The southern part of the area has some very nice but also extremely expensive housing that comes with secured underground parking and a place for a yacht right in front of your balcony. Great if you can afford it.
You may like it or not, but it's definitely a great area to take a walk, sit down for a drink, do some (rich) peoplewatching or enjoy the views of the harbour.

For more than a houndred years this was a shipyard called 'Akers mek. verksted', but in 1982 the old wharf was turned into a modern place with restaurants, shops, offices, luxurious apartments and leisure-boat docks.
Today it is one of the most popular places in summer, and it's full of both locals and tourists. The prices can be a bit high here, so if you are on a budget it's better to eat and drink other places. But anyway you should visit this place at least once.
Right next to it lies the city hall, the old fortress, the dock for many of the cruiseships coming here and it's just a few minutes walk from the royal castle, the main street and many historical and important buildings.

An area of Oslo in the end of the Oslo fjord. About five/ten minute walk from central Oslo.
Amongst the harbour you'll find a shopping centre, as well as many outdoor and indoor resturants and cafés.
Really nice place, especially from april-september.

Aker brygge used to be a factory / wharf area. When the factory closed they modernised the whole area with a great success. It's a nice place to take a stroll, and there are some nice restaurants there. The prices however are a bit on the stiff side.
I think it’s a great place to sit and relax and just watch people and boats....

On a hot summers day this is the place. If you are lucky to find a seat, sit down outside and watch the boats, and all the people walking by. It seems like everybody is going here when the weather is good.
And there is also many good restaurants and interesting shops inside the buildings.
