The University of Oslo was erected in 1811. The building that can you see today was built between 1851 and 1854 by the German architect Karl Schinkel. In the Magna Room you can see nice paintings made by E.Munch (1910-1916).

Address: Karl Johans gate
On the opposite side of Karl Johans Gate from the National theater you will find the University of Oslo.
When the guys in hats came across this building we were not sure what it was at first. We noticed there were lots of bicycles and young people sitting around the steps. They looked like students....and then the DUH moment hit us. This was the University of Oslo of course.
The University of Oslo is Norways oldest and largest school for higher education. From its web page I learned that it was founded in 1811 while Norway was still under Danish rule. And the university has been the home to four Nobel prize winners.

It has a very beautiful architect. It was founded in 1811 and is regarded as the best university in Oslo with 32,000 students.
I had some former collaborators from this University in 1990s.
