disembarking by gordonilla The public transport network includes a ferry service to Dronningen and Bygdoy - this where where a number of museums are located. Check the details for FRAM, Kon-Tiki and the Viking Longship Museum on my things to do pages. The ferry, is nr 91 I believe, friendly staff - buy an Oslo Pass and it is free. The service runs from May to September (otherwise use bus service 30 to reach the peninsula) Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

Bygdøy ferry service by bpwillet There are all kinds of different ferries at the Oslo harbor. Local ones, and long distance ones. Each one has their own place on the harbor/docks. Some of the quick ones leave from right in front of the City Hall (Rådhuset). Like this one to Bygdøy. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

Returning to Central City by geekgrrl This is the ferry to take to Bygdoy peninsula which is where many of the best museums are. The ferries operate from April to the end of September. They leave from Radhusbrygge (directly behind City Hall) and run approximately every 40 minutes. With our Oslo Card the ferry was free. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

by elcolibri To and from Bygdoy you can travel by ferry . This ferry dates from 1898. Its departures are in front of the City Hall. Travels dont last more than 15 minutes (prizes 20 NOK) and you can pay it on the boat. It has 2 stops in Bygdoy (the first in Dronningen near the Viking Museum and the Folk Museum, and the second in Bygdoynes near the Kontiki , Fram and Maritime Museum). Leave a Comment

Subway vending machine by Saagar Good luck trying your Norwegian on these vending machines. If you want a single ticket and you are adult and want to travel within Oslo city, keep to the left column of info and buttons (see photo), press "Voksen" (adult), and the machine screen will indicate 20. Put 20 NOK into the slot or use bank notes 50, 100, 200 in the bill slot. Ticket and any change will arrive in the slot to the left, below. Repeat the procedure for more single tickets. Some vending machines don't have slots for bills. If you want tickets for multiple travels, press for Oslo "Flexikort", which costs 150 NOK and gives you 8 rides. Pay with coins or bank notes as above. These tickets need to be stamped in small yellow box-like validation machines nearby the vending machine. One stamp/ticket per person, valid for transfers within one hour, including subway, trams and buses. All within Oslo zone 1 - pretty much wherever you want to visit for touristic purposes, anyway. Go to "Trafikanten" public transportation service center just in front of Oslo Central railway station for ticketing and information if you hate vending machines. Leave a Comment Theme: Subway/Metro

The Oslo city train by xantylaol In Oslo you can use either the metro/subway or the bus to get around, besides taxi of course - and in some instances ferryboats. It is amongst others possible to buy a 1 day pass or 7 days pass for 60 NOK or 210 NOK respectively for the city metro/subway. There are ticket vending machines at most or all stations and at the major stations you also have some manned ticket outlets. Check out the below links to their website: The fares The network & timetables You might want to check out the "Oslo Pass" - check this link for more information: The Oslo Pass Leave a Comment

Ocean liner taking off for Italy by fluffybunny It's very easy to get around Oslo and getting around the city centre is best done by foot. However, if you want to go outside the city then it's best to take the metro. It's always on time and very easy and convenient to use Leave a Comment Theme: Subway/Metro

Most of the metro is extremely clean and new! by ideabuzz Oslo Pass will get you transportation on Buses and Metro for the duration of the pass. It makes getting around very easy and includes many discounts on admissions. They are sold at the tourist office downtown or at the Maritime Museum (out at the end of the peninsula). This will be essential to get from downtown to the museums out on the peninsula as well as to the woods at the end of line 1. Keep in mind the metro does close in the late evening (10:00 on Sunday).
