It can be very difficult for the uninitiated to find their way by car. The streets are far from straight, and often you end up in an unexpected one way street. Because the streets are in different angles, with no particular system, it can be hard to keep track of North.
The better way to manouver in Oslo is definitely to take the train in and just be a pedestrian or ride an ordinary bicycle.

Try not to be funny with these fellows, they easily puke on you. Its a tradition here in Norway, after three years of study in the college they dress in stupid uniforms (blue or red) and are allowed to do almost anything - and mostly stay drunk and awake for days in a row. This period goes from late April to late May.

Well do not enter this building unless you have a special invitation or going around with a deathwish - this is the Blitz house, were the rebell's live (or die)... :-)) Its occupied by a polite, well dressed group of youth's (well the oldest might be 50). They have jewelry in bodyparts my parent's never seen or heard about and are protesting against everything from whaling to weather - King Harald's sailing to pillows with chicken feather. Meaning EVERYTHING.

Well no real Warnings or dangerous places that I found though I hit a bar called Studenten
and well people tend to like to dance just about anywhere they can in a crowded place and it can get a little over exuberent to say the least if you find someone dancing and banging into you then this is as far as I can tell the viking blood coming through the genetic pool,,just picture the old 1950's films of lots of Vikings partying they used to cut off peoples arms and laugh (Eric the Viking film) .Now they just bang into you and tip your priceless ( like gold dust ) alcoholic bevereage...
There was a little scuffle and a small punch thrown before the door apes threw out a few revellers, though nothing major really just someone stamping on someone else's toe I think..... hehe

Close by the central railway station, between it and the deep blue sea, is the area where the hard core junkies of Oslo gather.Stay away.
Female travelers should know that the carré district close to Akershus fortress, dominated by offices, after dark turns into the area for street walking in Oslo. Single men driving slowly around there are not necessarily lost tourists..

I'm working at the national hospital, department of gastroenterology, meaning that all tourists with some kinda stomach problems comes to us. Luckily the food in Norway is safe, so very few find their way to us, but if you do I will have to warn you - you will meet me :p

If you are going out at night (specially during the weekend), you might run into people looking similar to the guy in this picture. (Luckily, this guy is currently living in the Phillipines, so you probably won't run into him.. :o). Often, they look and behave like gorillas, but are in most cases harmless.

pickpockers are a problem in Oslo as well as in any other city! The most risky place is the main street Karl Johan and the shopping senteres like Oslo City.
Also try to stay away from the area around the central station which is not safe.

Very very safe, night and day. Some streets can be unwise to walk at night, but nothing is likely to happen even there. To get into trouble you have to seek it or be very unlucky. Dont sue me when you get mugged.

A: While it may not win international awards for the best airline in the world, Iceland Air is perfectly fine. As for safety, the last crash was in 1978.
