The street 'Torggata' close to the main street 'Karl Johan' is NOT a safe place in evenings fri/sat.
There is a lot of kids around 18-24, usually drunk, looking for fights.
The police are around the place always, but it might be to late. WALK AROUND !

Oslo is very safe...even for kids with candy;) Public transportation are allways a cuople of minutes late, and a bit too expensive, witch also goes for everything else! Alcohol and tobacco especially! Crime is low, the beggers are polite and the husslers practically don't exist!

Oslo is safe, but late night you should not walk alone in the red light district. This you find when you walk from the railway station and up Karl Johan. Turn left at Skippergaten.
