Bring sweaters even in the summer. If you are lucky you can get a day in summer of 22 deg cel. Toiletries are easy to get in Norway. Please remember to bring your travellers adapter for traveller from Asia.

Don't bother about shoe polish

by Kjetil

A soft bag that you can carry on your back is fine for Norway. It all depends what your plans are. But you don't have to worry about shoe polish. We Norwegians wear the dirtiest shoes on the planet - even in night clubs. As a foreigner - you will have the most elegant shoes in the party by default. Believe me! There are not many pharmacies open at night in Norway. Medical supplies may be very expencive here, so bring whatever you need with you from home. Actually, photo equipment is not very expencive in Norway. So - if you forgot your camera at home, you can get that digital thing you have been drooling over right here.

Don't forget a good anti-moskito spray. The biests in are very agressive!I found the stuff bought up in scandinavia much better then the spray we had brought with us. Obviously the northern mosquitos have got a different taste as the southern ones....

It's really cold up there!

Even if you come in the middle of august, bring warm clothes and something for the rain. If you are taking a boat, some polar clothes are advisable, as the wind in the upper deck is freeeeezing. For updated info try at www.northcape.no

The choice of what to pack depends very much on what kind of travel you have planned. A good tip is to have the utmost respect for nature. The weather in some places can change in seconds, and it is always a good idea to bring clothes and equipment for any type of weather in that season.

One day its fine and sunny the next its snowing...so consequently pack a variety of clothing. MOSQUITO lotion for the far north ...they are like jumbo jets up there..!! Plenty of film and a variety of lenses and polaroid filter. Plenty of money things are outrageously expensive.

A large and sturdy suitcase in order to carry all the necessary things. IN SUMMER : the weather can be sunny or cold. So do not forget the sweater. The rain coat too because the sun can be quickly replaced by a shower. The shoes must be warm, made for walking and climbing with a non-slip sole. With the midnight sun, think also to the sun glasses and a mask if you cannot sleep with the day light. <> The photo is taken in North Cap at about midnight and 9°c. the 13rd July 2002. Every things is expensive in Norway. So, bring your own toileteries and medicine if you do not want to be ruined by the purchase of a toothpast tube. If you do not like soap gel bring also your piece of soap. A sun cream and a mostiko repellant must be put in your luggage. Bring your films because they are so expensive in Norway. If you are an equiped traveller : a wide angle lens and/or a panorama camera...

If you come here during summer, you should bring your bathing suits, t-shirts and shorts, a jacket, some trousers and a warmer sweater. And do not forget your raincoat.. :o)During winter; (surprise!!) warm clothes. You can get anything. But bring enough of your medicin, as a new perscripcion requiers a visit at the doctor.. and that can be expensive. Bring everything!

Be sure to pack the whole car with necessary items as beer, liquer, cigarettes, wine, sigars because if you use some of it regularly - it will ruin your budget in Norway. Sorry Mr Prime Minister but thats life...

Something easy to carry around. Snow suprised me in April. From October to May you may expect all kinds of weather, depending on where in Norway you're going to. Of course, during winter you need warm clothes, getting one of those Norwegian sweaters would be perfect. What you must have are waterproof shoes most of the year, it rains a lot. 2 years ago I experienced +12´C in January, South in Kristiansand, while this year I experienced -30 in Trondheim. Once again, everything depends on where you want to go... so before the trip, check the weather forecast!
