While the far north of the country seems very far north indeed, don't be caught out - carry sun screen. In sheltered spots away from the wind body warmers over short-sleed or adaptable tops can be useful! Never found any problems with a digital camera. Trainers seemed to be fine for footwear on most surfaces - but didn't venture into territory where I'd naturally go into boots!

Even in the Summer it rarely gets out of the 60's in temperature... plan accordingly, and if its Winter, get serious about very warm outerwear. The Norwegians take warmth very seriously, and for good reason; a mistake in this department is usually not correctable. If you're going on a hike, use hiking boots and not sneakers. Most of the trails are covered in large rocks and boulders and you'll need ankle support. Its not possible to bring enough film. And remember to get some shots of yourself amongst the vistas.

rucksack is preferablealso, i didn't notice any pick-pocketing, so, it's safe with the backpacks well, in summer you have to take a warm jacket! it was cold there in july!!!! you don't have to bring an umbrella though, 'cause i found out you can get a nice compact umbrella for NOK (norwegian krone) 20 (around usd 2.3). i got one in Nille (cheap shopping chain) oh, you should definitely take all possible medicine! i had a problem with my kidneys and couldn't get the right medicine in the drugstores (Apteke). what i've only seen there was some vitamins, sterile pads, antidandruff shampoo and that's all! so, to get the required medicine, i had to go see the doctor first, and it took me the whole day!!! norway is way overpriced. you'd better take a digital camera if you don't want to waste your money on films you've got to take cigarettes, alcohol drinks, liquor with you, otherwise...

I prefer a 45 litre rucksack with a quick adjust system for longer hiking tours and paddling. Any other comfortable! rucksack will be right for you. Modern materials will give you waterproof, quick handling and any comfort you need. Waterproof shoes/ boots, Rain Jacket, all clothes for cold or rainy weather in Windstopper Fleece Quality. A Fleece Flat Cap may complete your equipment. Painkiller, band-aid, elastic bandage, protection against midges. I use a reflex camera with normal batteries (Mignon AA) from Nikon. One telephoto lens and one wide-angel-lense thereto. If you'll stay distantly from any village or town, it's useful to have an FIRST AID COMPACT KIT with you.Should contain Triangular bandage, Woven bandageSafety pins, Scissors, non adhesive dressing, Paracetamol tablets, adhesive dressing, antiseptic cleansing tissues, Disposable latex gloves. A good knife is absolutely...

Bring some warm gears cause even if days can be pretty warm in May (up to 25C), we've been quite surprised when the temperature dropped down bellow zero at night in altitude (1000m). Get yourself a warm sleeping bag! Otherwise you're sure gonna freeze your ass off. Bring as much food as you can, this country is damn expensive! That's the way we could save money on the trip.

You know the stories and yes, they are true: Norway is expensive. So if you are a budget-traveller, you might want to take some food and beverages with you. Nowadays you can get virtually everything (back in the 70ties many things, especially vegetables were pretty rare. My mother wanted to buy cucumber and the lady in the shop asked her if she wanted half of it or a quarter. When my mom said she wanted the whole thing, the lady looked very strange. I am sure she's told the whole village…), but everything has its price. If you are a heavy drinker, please note that alcohol is still very expensive. Of course you can take your own bottles with you from abroad. My experience is that at Gardermoen Airport they hardly ever check your luggage and I know people who take loads of bottles with them when they take the ferry to Oslo. The customs officers in the port of Oslo always wave very...

We visited Norway each time in summer and had temperatures around 23°C, so light clothing was enough. Yep, we also took rain gear etc with us, but thankfully didn't need it :-) Electricity is 220 volts and plugs are of the European round 2-pin type, so depending on where you're coming from, you'll maybe need an adapter.

Take a good quality waterproof fleece and good walking boots. Bring a first aid kit with any personal medicines you are likely to need. Medicines are not easy to obtain in Norway. Bring plenty of your film for your camera. Film is expensive to buy in Norway.

All I can say is that it was Summertime but we drove by some lakes with small chunks of ice floating in them! (see photo on left) Just to be safe, pack a windbreaker at least and a light sweater. And an umbrella; it rained for two days straight during one stretch. Luckily we were driving on those days. You'll be tempted to take a ton of photos to try to capture the breathtaking scenery. Unless you're a pro, don't overdo it because the photos will never come out like you envision them when you're there. Still, if you must, be sure to take along a very wide angle, like 28mm or wider, as well as very long telephotos, like 200-600mm. There are so many places to camp or rent cabins, you'll rarely need any hotel reservation; you should be able to find a place just by showing up and asking around. They are literally everywhere. This country is an outdoorsman's heaven.

People might think that since Norway is 'so far North' there is no such thing as summer. That's not true. You should bring you swimming suits and shorts! If you fear buying this type of things in Norway is going to be expensive, then you are probably right. So maybe you should bring some of your own, though it'll to be a problem to find it here. There won't be any problems with re-charing batteries etc, and don't worry about your equipment getting stolen. There isn't much crime in Norway.
