Urnes Apple Juice: The gods must be very pleased with this drink!

by YokuMoku

This heavenly prime apple juice is pressed from the aromatic fresh apples from Sogne Fjord orchards. The juice is then pasteurized and bottled. No preservatives added. No wonder it is awarded as the best Norwegian non-alcoholic drink. If you are extremely rich and a true gourmet, you can just fly bottles of this apple juice by your private jet to wherever you live in the world. You only need to call the company with the number I have provided. Oh, what a free promotion for Balhom Safteri! It should give me free bottles of Urnes Apple juice for the rest of my life for this free promotion. To see video from Balholm Safteri, go to this link:http://www.nrk.no/nyheter/distrikt/nrk_sogn_og_fjordane/fylkesleksikon/1858413.htmland then choose the link with these wordings, "Balholm Safteri med stor suksess (BREIBAND) [WM] -sendt på NRK1 02.12.1998. Peppes Pizza: Delicious Pizza for two!

by Rahel

I know, Norway is famous for other food than Pizza. But in Oslo we were this hungry and we were looking for something cheap and fast prepared. And we didn't regret! We found Peppes Pizza in every city of Norway, and to tell honestly, we weren't there for just one time... We tried lots of different pizza styles. We always ordered a large Pizza for two. On each half you can choose a different one.

Park Hotel Vossevangen: Vossevangen

by Sairaanhoitaja

Lovely outer decor, not so nice inside, but not bad! Restuarant staff not so friendly or helpful though. =(Beautiful view out the back of the lake and surronding snow peaked mountains, well worth a visit! When we were there the owner put on a huge buffet. Shame there wasn't much to eat as I am a vegetarian, and mostly everything was fish. Desert was BRILLIANT though, huge selection!Good tea and coffee to.

Fish

by DanielF

Possibly, because I had bad luck. Or, rather, because I am spoiled coming from a place where fish recipees are a devotion, but my culinary experiences in Norway have been a bit disappointing. Usually, choices are not very large and most of the menus turn around different preparations of salmon and reindeer. Occasionally codfish or lamm popped out in some more stylish restaurants, but it was never something to write home about. Being Norway a country with such a great fishing tradition, I expected much more from their restaurants, especially considering the astronomical prices that are systematically charged.

Dovrehallen: Norwegian food and dancing

by Kjetil

Dovrehallen restaurant in Storgata - right in the center of Oslo, has become my favourite place after good old Lompa closed. And, what a nice place it is. Real, old-fashioned Norwegian food, dancing to live music Wednesday to Saturday, and lots of drunk Norwegians (yours truly, among others). Seriously - if you find yourself in Oslo and want to experience what the Norwegian soul is about - come to Dovrehallen. You will probably have to ask someone for directions, and don't let the entrance scare you. There is a pub downstairs, called Dovrestua, but it is the dance restaurant on the first floor that should be your first choice. Most popular dish is without doubt 50 cl of pilsner beer. I don't drink beer, so I stick to vodka - which is served in 4 cl glasses. The food is great value for money. Today's special is usually 80-90 NOK - which means that you can fill up on traditional Norwegian...

Restaurant Olympen ('Lompa'),...

by Kjetil

:( 'Lompa' is closed. I don't know when and if it will open again.Restaurant Olympen ('Lompa'), OsloAt Lompa (no taxi driver will know what you are talking about if you ask for Restaurant Olympen), the atmosphere is the reason to visit. This is an old restaurant where the guests are usually drunk at 4 pm, the toilets look like they have been bombed, and the waiters are nasty. There is dancing to live music every night. People go to Lompa to drink - not to eat. Still you can get a decent bite here if you feel peckish. Glass of vodka (see picture)

all restaurants: Eating out in this city is very expensive!

by maryellen50

You will quckly find Oslo to be a very expensive city to experience any cuisine. The average meal per person is approximately $40. Most tend to consume a big breakfast as most accommodations provide a breakfast buffet included in the price. Fresh fruit is very expensive so even vegetarians will find this city a challenging place to eat on a budget.

Norway: Norwegian dishes

by jonkb

Norwegians usually eat four times a day. We start up with bread in the morning (breakfast): Smoergasbord (a swedish word used by americans). That's also when most of us make our sandwiches for lunch. We take that with us to work, and eat lunch at the workplace. The days only hot meal is usually served at about 17.00 at home. It's not usual for Norwegian to eat out exept when out on the town. The last meal is just like the breakfast; bread and butter. Everyday dinner can be just about everything served warm. One rather peculiar thing is the fishcaces. Many like them - some don't Typical Norwegian dishes falls mainly in the category of fish: Salmon prepared in a large variety of ways are common. Lutefisk is dried Cod prepared with lye, and has it's verry own fans. Other types of fish are (some names in norwegian only): Steinbit, Uer, Breiflabb. Gravlaks is a norwegian speciality (Salmon...

Mormors Stue: Cheapest beer in Norway

by Saagar
