10 am the children parade starts kids from all the schools and kindergarden starts from diffrent parts of town to meet up and marzh together to the townhall ( a building that you learn about in acitect history )
the speaker of the day can be anyone local or from abroad, lot of famouse people has spoken here
after this people join together with friends or go to cafes to have lunch
3 pm.....the folk parade starts it include diffrent clubs, activites ...for example sports team , choirs, carsclub, dancers, bands . its lot of fun to watch
5 am the graduates make a fun parade in their costumes red, blue or black...they make fun of local news, bring their cars etc

the whole day you will see people in their national costume from diffrent parts of norway and after 6-7 its great to take it off (since its so heavy) and hit the sofa after a long day, some of us sometime go out or to a party

the day is celebrated diffrently all around the country, i have celebrated it in diffrent places and must say this city has the best and longest day with things happening all day long...its very easy for tourist to experince alot of celebration without the local knowledge since it all happen down town

    Vangen - Haugesund

do as the local and go for a walk either in Vangen (see picture) or to Evindsvatnet
In Vangen there is a small lake with swans and duck that many feed so they are not afraid of people , in the forest its a playgorund for kids, and a cafe. Nearby its the swimmingpool, and the football clubs (3 of them - Vard, Haugar and Djerv1919) all situatet around the football fields of sand
Its a nice place to relax
Eivindsvatnet its a bit further away from town but it has a great lake and its beatiful to walk in the forrest or if u go to one of the tops u will see a nice wiew over the town and area around
the lake is nice to go for a swim in since its not as cold as the ocean :-)

flytten boats goes between the island and the town in the old days, and now in the summertime. In the old days men brought people over to the island in their rowing boats on of them was a man called Ola Flytt (Ola J. Dagsland) , he worked from 1876 to 1906. There is also a local song about him. Here u see one of the boats with a motor in use from 1915 to 1979)
