Very close to the train station and the central bus station, it can be a good choice for shopping.
You'll find there all you may find in any other place in Norway and you'll have a new opportunity to meet people... more than in the other places in the city :)

It seems to be one of the largest shopping center in Norway, even if for the othe reuropeans it will not be very impresive. Anyway they put together under the same roof all what you need for a life in Norwegian style.
And more than this, if I want to meet somebody, I have only to go there on Saturday and to spend few hrs around. This is a kind of meeting place for all the people in Stavanger area

A must go: Biltema

If you are a man and you need "something" this is the place you shall go. All of us are going there, even if we don't look for something special ;)
The idea is that you'll find there everyting for your car or boat or house or garden, even if the shop is not so big.

Langgata: Norway's longest pedestrian street

Langgata means Long Street :-) It is known as the longest pedestrian street in Norway, and as a very good shopping street. During the warm season several coffeeshops and restaurants have outdoor serving.

The first known regulating plan for Sandnes was made in 1858, and shows several long streets in parallel, with shorter cross streets. The main street got the name Langgata, probably in 1899. The main picture shows one of the cross streets seen from the central railway station; Langgata is one block up.

What to buy: Strolling along this pleasant street you can get everything you want, picture 2 - 5 shows some examples:

2: "Ost & kaffe" = cheese and coffee. They sell tea too, and some other good stuff. There are a few tables to sit down and relax with a sup.
3: Mix Import, certainly a mix! Good prices on oriental food, exotic fruit and and gift articles.
4: VillaRosa, furnishings and clothes in what they call a "luxury bohemian shabby chic" style. Site in norwegian only, but a lot of pictures on each page.
5: Preus frisør, get your hair done inbetween your shopping.
