Sandnes Things to Do

  • Kongeparken-the biggest amusement park...

Probably yes, but we haven't seen them all to be sure. And we have seen actually only a part of it, before the Christmas in 2007.Far to be comparable with Disneyland or Efteling, we have to recognize that, for a country with only 5 million people, it is big.And all the kids (even their parents) would find interesting things to do here.Again, do not...

  • Rogaland Arboretum

A huge park, a kind of tree collection, impressive especially in the light of October.I thought that the size is much smaller than it is actually. In the week-ends the forest is full of child's voices. This is the best playground I have seen until now in the forest.

  • Dalsnuten

If you want to see the entire Stavanger Region in a sight, you don't have to go at Preikestolen but to Dalsnuten. You'll drive there from Sandnes, no more than 10 minutes, or to take the bus 21 from the "bussterminalen".Take a look at my pictures if you have any doubts about the need to go there.

Sandnes Restaurants

  • French kitchen, traditional norwegian...

The food is prepared on site with raw materials from local suppliers. The restaurant is very popular even by people not staying in the hotel, especially around Christmas and on weekends. The sunday dinner has become a favourite for many a family, especially the part about the children's playroom / cartoon videos, which gives the parents the...

  • Norwegian and Danish food!

Cozy place. The best food in town. All the food is really good. In addition Gamlaværket is a small hotel. So you may even stay the night.

  • Vietnamese, thai and chinese

I haven't eaten with them since they moved to Sandnes, but I ate there a lot when they were in Stavanger. In addition to vietnamese, they serve thai and chinese food. Since there are several other chinese and thai restaurants in Stavanger, I have always chosen vietnamese, and I have always been very satisfied. Service is friendly and the ambient...

  • Amfi-Sandnes-Under Construction

Very close to the train station and the central bus station, it can be a good choice for shopping. You'll find there all you may find in any other place in Norway and you'll have a new opportunity to meet people... more than in the other places in the city :)

It seems to be one of the largest shopping center in Norway, even if for the othe reuropeans it will not be very impresive. Anyway they put together under the same roof all what you need for a life in Norwegian style. And more than this, if I want to meet somebody, I have only to go there on Saturday and to spend few hrs around. This is a kind of...

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Your kid will find a lot of things to learn here.
Actually there is an interesting laboratory of science.
It is built with simple means but this is making it so useful.
If you are working for one of the "sponsors" use your advantage to visit the place for free with all your family.
Don't miss the opportunity to see the Planetarium, even if all the
explanations are in the well known Bokmal.

Banquet and conference center 4 more images

by Rusket Written Nov 3, 2005

Favorite thing: The banquet and conferance area on the top floor of Quality Hotell Residence is one of the better I have experienced. It is totally rebuilt / renovated, with a separate reception desk and administration office, several conference rooms of variable sizes and large relaxation areas. The rooms are spacious and airy and the service very professional. And for those of us who still smoke: We don't have to go all the way down and outside, there is a smoker's terrace with tables and chairs.

Escape routes are well marked, each room has access to the roof and there is a possibility to escape through the movie theater as well.

The location is very central: 2 minutes to walk from Sandnes Railway Station, 1 minute to the Bus Terminal / airport shuttle bus, 11 minutes by train to Stavanger, 20 minutes to Stavanger Airport Sola by bus.
