Do you need a bird guide? Birdwatching at Sola

There are two localities worth a mention. Solabukta is the large bay along side route 510. This shallow bay is a favourite haunt for Divers and Grebes during late autumn, winter and spring. Sea duck such as Common Eider and Velvet Scoter are usually present in varying numbers. Hafrsfjorden is a large fjord that ends at one of Sola airport runways. Wildfowl are usually to be found in good numbers while during periods of low tide, large sandbanks appear attracting some of the commoner species of wader. If you need a bird guide, please phone.

If you are here in "that sunny day" in summer time... I recommend you to join all the others on the beach.
I don't know if you really need to try the water too. They call it North Sea and they shall have a good reason for it :)

Sola Strand seen from Sola Strand Hotel (03/05)

One of the nicest beaches of Rogaland and whole Norway ... In warm summers temperature of the ocean reaches almost 20 C :)

In summer the beaches or Rogaland can be very crowded, because its a favorite destination for many Norwegians. And don't forget bustling Stavanger is very close. You can reach the beach by food from airport (30 mins) or by bus from Stavanger (45 mins).

The beaches are free to enter, and you can sit where you want. There are very few "private" beaches.

In winter 2004 the coastline was changed a lot due to a big storm which caused quite some damage.
