Favorite thing: The sun sets very late in the summer. We were in Røros in late June and I took this picture at midnight at a lake just outside of town. We were in the countryside looking for my wife's great-grandmother's house. She had seen a picture of it taken many years ago and thought that she would recognize it again when she saw it. Here we are driving down people's driveways at midnight looking for a house in my wife's memory. I was afraid we would get shot as intruders since all of the residents had probably gone to bed already!
Just get out of your car and walk around. The whole village is about 1/2 mile in diameter. You can peak thru the small windows into the shops with grass cover roofs. During the summer the main street is closed to vehicle traffic.See the Røros website at
