If you’re looking for something genuinely Norwegian then Baklandet Skydsstasjon is typically Norsk, at least architecturally. Situated in one of the old wooden houses in Bakklandet it consists of several small rooms that are connected only by sounds of jazz or by verses of Norwegian poetry read by local poets during one of the Poetry evenings. The interior is old-feel, with chairs and tables you would find at your granny’s house. The flowers in window flowerpots add to the domestic feel.
Favorite Dish: They have good fish soups or bakalao for ca. 150 kr and a local Dahls beer for ca. 50 kr. Also worth trying is a local fruit or cheese cake. (But be warned that it’s better to skip the thing they call chocolate cake!)

Baklandet Skydsstation is a verry old fashion way of spelling the name, but nevertheless it's the name.
A skydsstation was a place where couriers and wagoneers in the nations service could change horses, and perhaps get some sleep. Now it's a cafeteria that might even have some live musik.
