There is a road connection offering a cheaper, faster ferry over the fjord further to the east, but I think it is best to relax a little and take in the fresh air of one of the more scenic ferries in the Sognefjord area.
Cruising through an UNESCO heritage site and enjoying the scenery while someone else does the driving is well worth it.
Costs vary depending on your final destination, but range from 205~400NOK.
If you are lucky and going to Lærdal, one of the ferry goes directly (this is the one we caught), but the others stop in Gudvanger first adding additional time to your journey.
