Favorite Dish: I usually go for the fish here.

This cafe is located at the Porcellain Factory's main outlet store "Magasinet" a bit in the back of the store. Chance is that you have very glassy eyes by the time you arrive here, ripe for a coffee or something.
Caspara doubles as a factory workers cafe, so the fare beyond regular cafe stuff is also sturdy Norwegian lunch-paket style food with open-faced rolls and sandwiches with spread.
Opening hours the same as for the shops.
Favorite Dish: Waffles were good here, a winner with hot chocolate...
It was apparent that toward of the end of the day the stock of food runs out. Toward closing hours for a late meal or fresh roll or so, opt for someplace else to eat.

Down by the harbour I finally found one sea food specialist restaurant. However, the opening hours did not suit my schedule, so i never got to taste their food.
I guess things are quite seasonal here, too, as is my guess for all restaurant life in Porsgrunn - February doesn't give any spring or summer mood and leisure time.
Nice outdoor spot (backside) for warm summer evenings...
Favorite Dish: Their fish soup seemed to be a good deal as a lunch. Price level indicated for lunch dishes.

If I was let loose and could have my beer where it fancied, I'd go to Eigil's Pub for a beer. Definitiely a brown place, with live music. My female company backed off after a peep through the curtains.

The apparently best bakery in town is located to the far end of the shopping mall "Downtown" (what a name!) in Porsgrunn. Any kind of cake and bread you'd wish to taste withing the framework of Norwegian conservativism can be had here.
A bit of French and Italian slang is getting into the picture, too.
Seems to be a very popular hangout for newly-baked mothers and middle aged women shoppers. Watch for sharp elbows...
Favorite Dish: Good take-away or eat-there salami ciabattas and hand and cheese baguettes.
Good on coffee and hot chocolat, too.

Finally, a good quality Chinese restaurant that doesn't compromise spice and taste with Norwegian blandishness.
Very odd interior decorations, with a mix of south Chinese dark wood panneling and ornaments with Greek nubiles and Norwegian pub--style sitting arrangements and tables.
South and Hunan Chinese dishes with an emphasis on hot spice and black pepper. However, covered a wide span of south and central China on the menu. Some Norwegian mainstays as well.
Enjoyed very friendly service and relatively low prices.
Favorite Dish: Tasted shrimp in hoisian sauce, sweet&sour dressed prawn in hot sauce of the house, spicy shredded beef in hot black pepper sauce.
Enjoyed very tasty sticky rice - rarely do any aromatic and superb rice find its way to Norway's Chinese restaurants.

Real pizza in this country of frozen spongy, pizza? Yes, here in Porsgrunn!
A nice place with two "departments", one for the decent crowd for prime evening dining (the menu has a good selection of what seemed high quality and upmarket-typisch Italian dishes) and a bar/winter garden area for those who drop by for a pizza or other snack or quick bite during day time - I qualify.
Favorite Dish: Pizza Toscana was as expected and promised in an italian restaurant. Quick service, well-cooled beer and nice atmosphere and people here.
I'd be happy to come back here for any celebratory dinner: deer, reindeer fillet, and interesting sea food items featured prominently on the menu for about NOK 200-230, a good 100 down from similar food standards in Oslo.
