Magasinet: Factory outlet - 2nd sorting porcellain

Porsgrund's factory outlet

This is the largest factory outlet of Porsgrund Porcellain Factory. They carry most of their current production series of tableware, including glasses here, but in 2nd sorting quality. But you have to really look hard on the finishing to find any blemishes on most of the stuff for sale. The price may be 20-80% lower than the top quality stuff. Lots of attractive things in here.

Opening hrs:
Mon-Fri: 09-16 (summer 9-18)
Thu : 09-18
Sat: 09-13 (summer 9-15)
Sun: summer only: 13-17

What to buy: Dinner sets, glass sets, serving plates, glasses, special artistic vases etc.

What to pay: 30-40% below catalogue price, sometimes lower. Weekly and seasonal campaigns.

Glasshjørnet and Porselenshuset: Top quality porcellain and glassware

2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Saagar 2157 reviews
Entrance, Glasshjrnet

Glasshjørnet and Porselenshuset are the top quality factory outlets of Porsgrund Porcellain Factory. Shares entrance with Kremmerhuset (separate tip) and the Porcellain Museum.

Opening hrs:
Mon-Fri: 09-16 (summer 9-18)
Thu : 09-18
Sat: 09-13 (summer 9-15)
Sun: summer only: 13-17

What to buy: All sorts of goods made from glas, chrystal and porcellain. I guess you can order a toilet here, too, but the sales exhibition focuses on tableware, decorations and gift items.

What to pay: Anything according to your liking. This shop is pricier as it it the top quality selection. Frequent discounts. The factory outlet shops guarantee at least 15% off normal retail price as an incentive to come to the factory.

Kremmerhuset: Factory outlet - cheap porcellain

Kremmerhuset

Located next to Glasshjørnet, Kremmerhuset is the factory outlet of Porsgrund's out of production stuff, industrial size kitchen wares and supplementary production for old (but still popular) series of tableware.
Some of the things here are seriously cheap.

Opening hrs:
Mon-Fri: 09-16 (summer 9-18)
Thu : 09-18
Sat: 09-13 (summer 9-15)
Sun: summer only: 13-17

What to buy: Tableware - cups, plates etc. Very nice Christmas plate sets, when I was here. Some nice stuff. The finer stuff can easily pass for fine gifts.

What to pay: From NOK 40 up per dinner plate

Downtown: Shopping malls of Porsgrunn

Downtown

Ooouchhh!
This isn't my idea of holiday.
And a terrible name for a Telemark (you know, sweaters, skiing and all that) shopping center.
If you have to, this is the place to do your shopping quick and dirty in Porsgrunn. 70 shops located in two neighbouring malls. But do not forget the city centre shops, either.

What to buy: Those you should buy in Porsgrunn things you wouldn't get here, anyway.
But generic stuff of all kinds you can get here.
Noted some good stuf for deep sea fishing in a sports goods store, otherwise, just the regular run of the mill, and a fairly large supermarket.
