Porsgrunn- Jonas B. Gundersen: River view lunch
This place in the new development on the embankment of the river is ideal for lunch. As i had. Big outdoor terrace, good views and for once the weather was excellent this holliday.
The restaurant serves italian inspired dishes, pastas, sandwiched and various modern things like wraps.
And for a new development it had a good atmosphere, well thought off and executed. Water featured, walking paths, seperate bike lanes etc.
Favorite Dish: I had the cold wraps for lunch. It tasted very good although it could have a bit more parma ham in it.
Streetside: Risengrot & Rommegrot
This is a popular porridge made in Norway and you'll find signs along the way of places you can stop in that specialize in the fantastic creamy plate. My favorite is Risengrot, which is almost like a rich Indian rice pudding (sans cardomon, nuts & sultanas) while Rommegrot is a yummy sour cream porridge topped with cinnamon, brown sugar and rich, creamy butter.

Streetside: Dont Miss the Fresh Artisanal Goats Cheese!!
As you are driving along in Telemark, you'll find all these little houses with signs that read - Geitost - MAKE SURE YOU STOP. These are artisanal cheese makers who know their craft WELL. Farms often create wonderfully magical tasting cheeses from goats & sheeps milk cheeses and will allow you to taste their wares. These cheeses are fairly priced (you'll find them costing only a few Kroner) and better than anything you might find in a market.
Favorite Dish: Geitost, or the brown cheese (an acquired taste)Related to:
