by Adztravels

The tourist shops. Watch out for many items (especially trolls) that are often made in China.Knitwear is real quality, but is a real rip-off compared to UK prices for similar quality (double price). Unless you really want a Norwegian sweater, don't bother. Prices start from NOK 1100.

Bus to the North Cape from Honningsvag. It leaves only once a day, but during weekends there is no connection back! Plan your trip to go to the Nort Cape during the week and not the weekend. I have been forced to spend a lot of money to come back from the North cape. If you decide to rent a car be prepared to pay a toll and entrance fee for the nort cape. Have enough money, cause the banks are closed during the weekend!

In winther time - slipper y roads - especially if your'e not useed to it !Oslo might by dangerous in some partsBiggest hazard might be standing in line waiting for the cab to take you to your hotel on late night weekend. You might risk being struck down by some drunk guy ! but in all - nothing much to worry about here :)

Stay away from buying something at the Gardermoen Airport. The prices are less in the city than at the airport, although the city it is not cheap either. The Karl Johan street has many shops that one can be without. The shops at beginning of the street from the Central Station offers a lot of shirts and all kinds of sweaters(the typical norwegian lusekofte), + other cheap articles that should not spend your money at.The sweaters are very 'cheap' compared to the real authentic stores that offers 'lusekofte'.

Nordkapp

by zweiblumen

Nordkapp: There is a large visitor centre that attracts hundreds of tourists every day, don't get me wrong .. it IS worth a visit but bear in mind that it is NOT the northernmost point in europe as it claims to be (see my 'Off the beaten track' bit). The entrance fee is VERY expensive as are the souvenirs in the shop (e.g. Sami hats were 50% more expensive than elsewhere in Norway and TWICE as expensive as they were in Finland). My idea of Lapland was that it was an area of natural beauty and solitude, Nordkapp is indeed impressive with 300m cliffs (see photo - Nordkapp from Knivskjelodden) but the solitude is sadly lacking when there are several hundred other tourists all trying to capture the midnight sun on film!

Beer to take with you in a Restaurant

by T-H

As in all northern counries, if you wanna take some beers home, they open each and everyone of it. That's a law there. Buy during day in a store (expensiv, better drink nothing during holidays).
