Photos coming Tromsų Idrettslag - TIL for short - is said to be the world's northernmost premier division football club. I'm not sure if that's completely true, but I *do* know that if you decide to watch a game in Tromsų early or late in the season you will have to put on your woolen underwear! (The Norwegian football season starts in early/mid April, and ends in early November.) I have watched TIL play at Alfheim stadium twice - and it snowed both times. Lovely. ;o) TIL haven't been doing great in the last few seasons - I'm just hoping they'll avoid relegation, as long as Tromsų plays in the top division I'll be able to watch *my* team, Brann, in Tromsų...;o) TIL's proudest moment in recent years would probably be their victory over the Turkish club Galatasaray in the UEFA Cup in 2005. Tromsų plays their home games at Alfheim stadium, which is situated a short walk from the town centre. The stadium was built in 1987, and artificial turf was installed at Alfheim in 2006. (The pitch was usually reduced to a muddy field towards the end of the season - so it was a choice between two evils!) The stadium has a capacity of only around 9000 - but that's big enough, really, TIL doesn't generally draw the big crowds... ;o) Leave a Comment Theme: Sports WatchingAddress: Stadionv 3Directions: A ten-minute walk from the town centre.Website: http://www.til.no/

TIL beating Start in 2001 by Loeffle Tromsų hosts the worlds nothernmost top flight football team: Tromsų IL (TIL) They are quite special and the team quickly caught my interest. The highlight of the teams history came in december 1997 when they beat Chelsea during a blizzard like weather in European Cup match. Nowadays Tromsų IL is a bit up and coming. 2002 one season in 2nd division, 2003 rescued from relegation on the 93rd minute of the last game. This year playing like gods in red and blue hunting Rosenborg for the title. Alfheim stadium is also a special place. Dont expect a football temple here, but some tiny stadium at 70 degrees north. They even play on natural grass, which costs them quite an amount of money every year. Recently TIL had quite some financial problems, but after selling yet another starlet to the Premier League, they should be stable with money for some years. Leave a Comment
