The Kristinus Bergman serves very good food and in my opinion represents better value for money compared to the other restaurant in Helgeroa (the Vertshuset SydVesten)
The pizzas are thin crust rather than deep pan so our 13 year old son was able to finish a medium sized one without getting bloated. Being a fan of seafood, I had scampi for starters. These were cooked in a white wine, garlic and olive oil sauce. It was a nice dish but there was probably too much sauce. We had mussels for main course and these were also very good. Personally I thought the mussels at the Vertshuset SydVesten restaurant were better but it was a close contest. The restaurant also has a take away pizza service.
The service was very friendly but also very slow. Our meal cost about the same as at the Vertshuset SydVesten but the children had dessert so we thought this was better value for money.

The Vertshuset SydVesten restaurant in Helgeroa serves some nice food although it is rather pricey (even by Norwegian standards). One dish we can definitely recommend is the mussels cooked in a white wine and onion and garlic sauce. This was delicious and can be ordered as either a starter or main course. The medium pizza is probably big enough to feed two people (my 10-year-old daughter struggled to eat a few pieces. The restaurant did offer us a doggy bag to take away what was left but we declined. My wife had catfish for main course, which was also very good. Total for the meal including drinks (but no dessert - we were too stuffed) came to a tad under 1100 NOK (2004 price).
Favorite Dish: Mussels in white wine onion and garlic. Simply delicious!
