The sculpture in Studziennicza site was built after 1999, when John Paul II visited Augustow. The sculpture is quite realistic, showing Pope entering the bank of this site.

John Paul II was a Pope of Polish nationality. At his time of serving the Catholic Church there was much of improvements made. Actually lot of spaces he visited (Vilnius religical places as well) is fixed in commemorative plates, sculptures.

Augustow channel probably is the most popular spot in town and in whole region of Poland. It was dug at the first half of 19th century. It connected river-basins of Nemunas and Vistula. The length of Augustow channel is 101,2 kilometres, about 20 kilometres are in Belarusian side. The popularity of channel is increased due to very nice landscape views, waters (lakes, rivers), old unique constructions of water - level changing constructions.

It is possible that Augustow channel in future could be inscribed into UNESCO World heritage list.

Eclectic style church of the Sacret Heart of Jesus was built in 1905 – 1911. Two spired church is beautifully visible from Augustow channel. Possibly it is the oldest remaining church in Augustow.

This is another shot of the front facede of the main church of Augustow. This strong white church looks nice.
Please notice ho beautiful the contrast if simetry in this facede just gives it a wonderful touch. The round rosacea in the middle with the vertical windos aside.

This is the lake where Augustow is located. This lake goes all the way northeast to the villages of Przewiez and Studzieniczna in the district of Augustowska. To go north you have to pass a bridge above the lake near to the town museum.

This is ho the west part of the centre square looks like. This for me, is te one that looks better. This center square is not all fancy due to the new consructions but still this houses you see there dont look that bad and just reveile that you are in fact in a small country side town in the lost part north of poland.

THE AUGUSTÓW CANAL is a precious masterpiece of water construction, unique on the European scale, dating from the first half of the 19th century. Preserved wholly, it is a testimony to engineering art of Polish constructors.The Canal's combined length from Dêbowo Sluice on the Biebrza to Niemnowo Sluice in Belarus is 101,2 km, out of which 20 km are on the Belorussian side. The idea to build the Canal was based on the intention to make trade of the Kingdom of Poland, via the port in Gdañsk, independent of the Prussian mediation
