Favorite thing: Baranow Castle is a popular destination for corporate trips, seminars, conferences, trainings, fun weekends, etc... My case exactly, I was on a corporate fun weekend trip. For such organized groups it is possible to book "An Old-Polish Evening". It is an old-Polish dinner with traditional dishes served in old-style tableware, and costumed entertainers who teach you funny old songs and dances. They also take you outdoor for funny competitions - good idea to burn all those calories and have a good laugh!

Favorite thing: As the castle was a magnate residence, you may expect to see grand interiors with beautiful what-nots that suit a place like this one. After seeing a few chambers you may be fed up but it's really worth taking the tour inside. The guides are very knowledgeable and, after the tour, you really understand better why this thing that looks like a palace is technically a castle :-)

Favorite thing: As you're driving to Baranow, the countryside is peaceful, quiet, almost magical to a city dweller like me... I've crossed the Vistula hundreds of times in Warsaw but seeing it in the countryside at dusk felt like I was crossing a different river... And the vast green meadows with horses the next morning were so relaxing... I think I never took a picture of a meadow before! My very first! :-)

Favorite thing: This little exhibition of the Tatar and Kozak attire was fun! It was around the time of the launch of the Polish movie Ogniem i mieczem (By Fire and Sword) based on a novel by Henryk Sienkiewicz, the one who wrote the Nobel-prized Quo Vadis. You can see the movie's poster to the left in the picture. I hadn't seen the movie yet when I visited this little exhibition so it really made me look forward to it :-)
