Bielsko-Biala street

If you wander around the old market square area, you'll come across some beautiful little streets like the one in my photo -- sorry I don't know the street name but you'll find your own favourite I'm sure.

Bielsko-Biala Castle

Originally built in the 14th century, the castle has undergone many changes -- destroyed by the Swedes in 1645 and damaged by fires in 1753,1808 and 1836, what you see today is a mix of Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance architecture. The current version was designed between 1855 and 1864 by the Viennese architect Jan Pötzelmeyer.

The castle belonged to the Piasts from Cieszyn, the Hungarian Sunneghs and finally the Sulkowski princes (until 1945). Today, it houses the museum and is used for permanent and temporary exhibitions and chamber music concerts.

Unfortunately when we visited the museum it was closed. Its opening hours are a bit confusing -- I think it's open Wednesdays and Fridays 09-00 to 14-00, Thursdays
10-00 to 18-00, Saturdays 10-00 to 15-00 and Sundays 09-00 to 15-00
