Braniewo Things to Do
Basilica Catherine of Alexandria, ...
A Medieval cathedral, towering in the center of powerful Braniewo, visible from afar. It is a symbol of former greatness and wealth of the city, which was part of the Hanseatic League, which had a major port and the first Prussian railway line. The reconstruction of this church only finished in the 1980's after being damaged in WW2.
This is a local park in Braniewo just across the road from Holy Cross Church complete with fountain and bandstand.

The bazaar is located in the center of the city within walking distance of the park. The various booth keepers had everything from shoes to vegetables to jewelry clothing and toys . It was fun.

Braniewo Off The Beaten Path
port of Nowa Pasleka
This small port is just outside of Braniewo, we visited relatives here. The sailing in the Wislany lagoon was lovely. Water birds were everywhere. Our host took us to see a beach made up of layer upon layer of tiny sea shells. The water here is approximately 50 % salinized so there it is a very interesting habitat.Related to:

sail on the Wislany
The scenery on the Wislany Lagoon was unforgetable. Seabirds nesting in the tiny tufts of island dotting the edge of the lagoon are like a paradise.
Equipment: Go with someone who knows the area. We went with my cousin our "captain" and host. This area is also accessable from nearby port of FromborgRelated to:
