    Street markets: Something for everybody

by evaanna Updated Sep 2, 2008

    4 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

These stalls at the roundabout in Bukowina and some in Glodowka sell all kinds of local craft, the local sheep cheese and lots of completely useless things, not necessarily produced locally. You will find some children's toys characteristic of the region, handmade woollen sweaters or socks, leather shoes and handbags with regional ornaments and many many more.

What to buy: Wooden toys, leather, oscypek (sheep cheese) and anything you might like.

What to pay: As much as you want to spend. Many of the articles are cheaper than in the Cepelia shops but the quality may be lower too. The postcards are more expensive here than at the post office.

    Nowy Targ Fair

by evaanna Updated Feb 10, 2006

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

You can get everything there: from locally produced food, second-hand books, household gadgets, to clothes and furniture. But the most interesting are the local handicrafts - carved chairs and kitchen utensils, traditional children's toys, decorative wooden boxes, leather bags, wallets and slippers with traditional patterns, thick hand-knitted gloves, hats, sweaters and cardigans and many many more. They are all bargains in comparison with their prices in the shops but check the quality - some might be rejects. The fair is held every Thursday and Saturday. Come as early as you can - at noon at the latest.

What to buy: Local crafts, locally made sheepskin coats - cheaper than anywhere else and anything you like.

What to pay: Most things are cheaper than in the shops.
