What I love in Warsaw is of...

by dreamworld

What I love in Warsaw is of course the Old Town which has partly been rebuilt after WWarII, looks very clean and beautiful, including a castle. Also the long street often referred at the 'Champs-Elysees' of Warsaw, called Nowakrakowsky...? well something like this...is great. Along this avenue you will see many interesting buildings including the president's palace (you can not get in). This PICTURE shows the main place in the Old Town of Warsaw. The Polish people may look at the first approach, a bit 'cold', but actually they are very very nice. I really met great people. And most of them (especially the young ones) speak at least some English.

Communicating? Be creative!

by Marcin75

Communicating in English may not be the easiest thing there (although you may be surprised, too!) and is surely much more difficult then in the cities. But on the other hand - people have more time and willingness to listen to you. I would recommend to have a small notebook on you always, where you can note down your question in well understood sign language. This is the way I managed to get necessary information in many countries. Notebook, pencil and basic drawing skills make miracles! It would be also nice to learn at least few basic Polish words. They are not as difficult as they seem to be. Just try, and you may be sure that it will be highly appreciated and open hearts for you.

by Marcin75

For many people the average landscape of Poland may seem boring. Looking through the window of a EuroCity train from Berlin to Warsaw or from Warsaw to Krakow you cannot see much more then plain, agricultural land, nothing spectacular. Just only the travel 'off the beaten path' can show you what Poland really is - its beauty, undiscovered jewels, nice, but very simple people, green meadows, deep forests, cold lakes, rolling hills and blossoming orchards. For many people from big cities it may be a journey to the past. For some - return to the roots. For others - interesting experience of the world which does not live in a hurry. Enjoy the province!

by a.g.roberts

Visit the salt mine at Wieliczka just outside Krakow. You get guided in a group down through various levels of the mine which are dug out of solid rock salt. There are tons of eerie passages and carvings. The highlights are definitely the Chapel (which is absollutely huge for being 100m underground) and a room filled with water that creates a better lightshow that a hundred disco balls.
