Places of worship

Any visitor coming to Poland will notice a huge number of churches, or I should rather say - places of worship. They are mostly Roman catholic, but protestant, orthodox or jewish ones are not very rare, either. Eastern Poland is rich in both synagogues and orthodox churches, whereas in southern Poland, especially in Little Poland, you can find some unique old wooden catholic churches which have been inscribed on UNESCO Heritage List. Lower Silesia can also boast of the churches included in the UNESCO List. These two Lutheran temples in Swidnica and Jawor, which are the largest timber-framed religious buildings in Europe, belong to the most unique places of worship I have ever seen. All over Poland there are thousands of churches - proud cathedrals or modest parish churches - they all have exciting stories to tell.
